Agriculture is the backbone of Uganda’s economy, employing over 70% of the population. However, traditional farming practices have led to soil degradation, deforestation, and reduced crop yields. Regenerative agriculture presents a sustainable solution—one that restores soil health, improves food security, and combats climate change. At Maanyi Community Development Centre, we are empowering farmers with climate-smart techniques to build a resilient agricultural sector.

What is Regenerative Agriculture?

Regenerative agriculture is an eco-friendly approach that goes beyond sustainability to actively restore and enhance soil health. It involves:
✔ Crop rotation & diversification – Prevents soil depletion and enhances biodiversity.
✔ Agroforestry – Integrating trees into farms to improve soil fertility and reduce erosion.
✔ Composting & organic fertilizers – Enhancing soil nutrients while reducing reliance on chemical inputs.
✔ Water conservation techniques – Using rainwater harvesting and drip irrigation to maximize efficiency.
✔ Zero tillage farming – Preserving soil structure to prevent erosion.

Impact on Farmers and the Environment

Through Maanyi’s Regenerative Agriculture Program, farmers are experiencing:
✅ Higher crop yields due to improved soil fertility.
✅ Lower production costs by reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.
✅ Climate resilience as the land retains more moisture and nutrients.
✅ Increased income from organic produce, which fetches better prices in the market.

How We Are Making a Difference

Maanyi has partnered with local farming communities to provide:
🌿 Training on sustainable farming techniques
🌿 Access to organic seeds and natural fertilizers
🌿 Workshops on climate-smart agricultural practices

Our goal is to create a new generation of eco-conscious farmers who not only grow food but also nurture the environment for future generations.
